About Taldykorgan Airport
Taldykorgan Airport is the main air gateway for Taldykorgan and the Zhetysu region in southeastern Kazakhstan. First established in 1946, the airport moved to its present location in 1974 when a concrete runway was completed, and its passenger terminal was reconstructed in 2004 with modern screening equipment.
The airport lies about 12 km northeast of central Taldykorgan and mainly serves domestic routes, including regular connections to Astana and regional flights to Usharal. It also functions as a joint civil-military airfield and can handle a range of aircraft types.
Passengers use a single terminal with a capacity of around 100 passengers per hour, a check-in zone, waiting areas, a café, and basic passenger services. The compact layout makes check-in, security and arrival procedures relatively straightforward.
Road access links the airport to Taldykorgan, and travelers can continue by taxi, pre-arranged transfer, or rental car to the city centre and onward destinations such as Almaty. Despite its modest size, the airport provides an important connection for the region.
