About Stuttgart Airport
Stuttgart Airport is the main international airport serving Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg, and the wider region of southwest Germany. Opened for commercial operations in 1948, it is located about 13 km south of the city centre on the Filder plain, near Leinfelden-Echterdingen and Filderstadt.
The airport operates four passenger terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 share the main building, while Terminal 4 is a separate building to the east connected by a walkway. Together they handle domestic, European and other international services, with Terminal 2 used for departures only.
Stuttgart Airport is connected to the city by S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 from the station beneath the terminal, as well as the U6 light rail line, buses, taxis, private transfers and road links. The S-Bahn reaches Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof in around 27 minutes.
With shops, restaurants, cafés, an airport lounge, Wi-Fi and other passenger facilities, the airport functions as a convenient gateway for visitors arriving in Stuttgart and the surrounding Baden-Württemberg region.
