Skyros Island National Airport is the main airport serving the island of Skyros in the Sporades. Located in the Trachi area in the northern part of the island, it connects Skyros with the Greek mainland and makes the island accessible to travellers throughout the year.
The airport was developed from the mid-1970s, with construction beginning in 1975, the first landing taking place in 1978, and operations established during the 1980s. Today it operates from a single passenger terminal and one runway, handling mainly scheduled domestic flights to Athens as well as seasonal charter traffic.
The airport lies around 17 km north of Chora, the island's main town. Travellers can continue their journey by taxi, local KTEL bus or rental car, with the port town of Linaria and villages such as Magazia and Molos reachable by road.
