Nea Anchialos National Airport is the main air gateway serving Volos and the wider central Greece region. Opened in February 1991, it is the only civilian airport serving Volos, Almyros, Lamia, Larissa, Farsala, Trikala and Karditsa, and it supports both scheduled domestic connections and seasonal international traffic.
Located about 26 km southwest of central Volos, the airport sits near the town of Nea Anchialos and the coast of the Pagasetic Gulf. Its single terminal and 2,759-metre runway handle arrivals, departures and ground services in one compact building, making the passenger journey straightforward.
The airport connects to Volos and nearby areas by taxi, private transfer, car rental and KTEL bus links, with the city centre typically around 35–40 minutes away by road. From Volos, travellers can continue to the Pelion peninsula, Meteora and other destinations in central Greece.
