Sparti Airport (SPJ), also known as Sparta Air Base, is a small military airfield serving Sparta and the wider Laconia region of the Peloponnese in Greece. It is operated by the Hellenic Air Force and primarily supports military aviation rather than scheduled passenger flights.
Located about 17 km south of Sparta, the airfield sits at an elevation of roughly 152 m and has a single asphalt runway designated 06/24. Because it has no public passenger terminal, most travellers heading to Sparta, the Byzantine town of Mystras, or other Laconia destinations arrive through Kalamata International Airport or Athens.
Road access between the airfield area, Sparta and nearby towns is available via the regional road network, with car hire, taxis and pre-arranged transfers forming the main onward travel options.
