Zakynthos International Airport Dionysios Solomos is the main airport serving Zakynthos island and the wider southern Ionian region. Opened in 1972, it began as a small terminal about 4 km from Zakynthos Town and has since developed into an important seasonal gateway for scheduled and charter flights from across Europe.
Located roughly 4 km from Zakynthos Town and close to resorts such as Laganas, Kalamaki and Tsilivi, the airport provides convenient access to the island's southern beaches and holiday areas. A modern 22,150 m2 terminal building was completed in 2008 and has been refurbished under Fraport Greece, which has managed and operated the airport since April 2017.
The single passenger terminal handles domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen traffic, with separate departure zones and ground-level arrivals facilities. Recent upgrades expanded check-in and security capacity to improve passenger flow during the busy summer season.
Travellers can continue to Zakynthos Town and nearby resorts by bus, taxi, pre-booked private transfer or rental car, making the airport a practical entry point for holiday visitors and island residents.
