Shennongjia Hongping Airport is a regional domestic airport serving the Shennongjia forest district in western Hubei province. Opened in May 2014, it sits at an elevation of about 2,580 metres and is known as one of the highest civil airports in central China.
Located in Hongping Town, the airport provides connections to domestic destinations including Wuhan, Chongqing and Shanghai, supporting both leisure travel and access to the Shennongjia nature reserve. Its single terminal building handles arrivals and departures with two boarding gates and a compact layout designed for the airport's regional traffic.
The airport is roughly 50 kilometres from the tourist centre of Muyu Town and about 70 kilometres from Songbai Town, the seat of the district government. Airport shuttle buses, taxis and pre-arranged transfers connect the terminal with these towns and nearby scenic areas.
