Located about 10 km north of Rovaniemi city centre, it operates from a single terminal building completed in 1992 and later expanded. The airport handles scheduled domestic and international flights as well as seasonal charter traffic, particularly during the winter travel season.
Rovaniemi is connected to the airport by taxi, bus, car rental and private transfer services. The short distance makes onward travel to the city centre, Santa Claus Village and nearby Lapland areas straightforward.
