Rishiri Airport is a small public airport serving Rishiri Island, a remote island in northern Hokkaido best known for the distinctive cone of Mount Rishiri. It provides the island's main scheduled air connection for travelers visiting Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park and surrounding coastal areas.
Opened in 1962, the airport has been expanded over the years and is now managed by the Hokkaido Prefectural Government. A single compact terminal building handles domestic flights linking Rishiri Island with Sapporo, including year-round service to Sapporo Okadama and seasonal flights to Sapporo New Chitose.
Located about 5 km west of Oshidomari, the island's main town and transport hub, the airport is reached by local bus, taxi or rental car. Oshidomari ferry terminal connects the island with Wakkanai and neighboring Rebun Island, making the airport part of a broader island travel route.
