Qaanaaq Airport (NAQ)

Qaanaaq Airport is a small regional airport serving Qaanaaq, a remote settlement in northwestern Greenland and one of the northernmost communities in the world. Opened in 2001, the airport provides a vital year-round air link for local residents and visitors in the Avannaata municipality. The airport lies approximately 3.5 km from Qaanaaq and mainly handles domestic Air Greenland flights connecting the town with destinations such as Upernavik and Ilulissat. It has a compact terminal and a 900 m gravel runway suitable for regional aircraft. There are no scheduled buses or taxis in Qaanaaq. Accommodation providers typically arrange airport pickups, and the municipality provides a vehicle that runs between the airport and town as needed, while the short distance is also walkable. With its modest terminal, limited passenger facilities and strong community role, Qaanaaq Airport functions as an important gateway to Greenland's far north and the surrounding Arctic landscape.
