About Nuussuaq Heliport
Nuussuaq Heliport is a small public heliport serving Nuussuaq, a settlement on the Nuussuaq peninsula in the Upernavik Archipelago of Avannaata municipality in northwestern Greenland. It is classified as a helistop and is operated by Greenland Airports (Mittarfeqarfiit).
The heliport is Nuussuaq's only scheduled air connection. Air Greenland operates government-contract settlement flights linking Nuussuaq with Upernavik and Kullorsuaq, and these services can be pre-booked with departure times kept flexible according to local demand. The single gravel landing area has no full terminal building.
Nuussuaq lies on a cape about 150 km by air north of Upernavik and has no road links. In addition to helicopter services, a boat runs to Upernavik once or twice a week in summer, while local travel is by snowmobile or dog sled.
Facilities at the heliport are limited, with the settlement's shop, post office, school and church within walking distance. For travelers, the heliport works as the entry point to a remote hunting and fishing community and the wider Upernavik Archipelago.
