About Mönchengladbach Airport
Mönchengladbach Airport is a general aviation airport serving Mönchengladbach and the wider Düsseldorf region in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was founded in 1955 as a small glider airstrip and later gained a hangar, control tower and terminal building.
Today the airport is one of Germany's larger general aviation airports, supporting flight schools, maintenance companies, business operators and private owners. It has a 1,200-metre usable runway, ILS approaches on both sides, and a control zone that supports a wide range of aircraft.
Located about 5 km northeast of central Mönchengladbach and roughly 15 km west of Düsseldorf, the airport is reachable by road via the A44 and A52 motorways. Taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars provide onward travel.
Passengers and crews have access to a business lounge, handling services, aircraft parking and fuel facilities, making the airport a practical entry point for private and business aviation in the region.
