About Memmingen Allgäu Airport
Memmingen Allgäu Airport serves Memmingen and the Allgäu region in Bavarian Swabia. Regular passenger flights began in 2007 on the site of a former military airfield in Memmingerberg, and today the airport links the region with destinations across Europe, mainly through low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air.
Located roughly 6 km from central Memmingen, it functions as a regional gateway and a practical alternative for reaching southern Bavaria and Munich. Its single terminal handles Schengen and non-Schengen departures, and a baggage hall with arrivals area was opened in 2021.
Ground transport includes the Memmingen Airport City Shuttle to Memmingen railway station, the Allgäu Airport Express to Munich Central Station, Flixbus services, taxis, private transfers and car rental. The A96 motorway provides direct road access to the surrounding region.
With shops, dining, free Wi-Fi and barrier-free facilities, the airport offers a compact, easy-to-navigate experience for leisure and business travellers.
Terminal Overview
Terminals
Memmingen Airport operates a single passenger terminal building. Schengen departures are handled from the ground floor, while non-Schengen departures use the upper-floor gates; the terminal has no jet bridges and passengers walk to the aircraft.
