About Luang Namtha Airport
Luang Namtha Airport is a small domestic airport serving Luang Namtha town and the surrounding province in northern Laos. It links the region with the Lao capital, Vientiane, through flights operated by Lao Airlines and Lao Skyway.
The airport was closed between 2006 and 2008 for renovation work that extended the runway to 1,600 metres and added a new single-storey passenger terminal of about 700 square metres. Today it has a compact terminal built for straightforward domestic travel.
Located about 6 km south of central Luang Namtha, the airport is reached by road, with taxis, tuk-tuks and local transport available for the short trip into town. Travelers can also continue overland toward other destinations in northern Laos.
Passenger facilities include a restaurant, coffee shop, gift shop, luggage keeping, an information desk, medical assistance, baggage wrapping and car parking, making it a practical gateway for visitors exploring northern Laos.
