About Lahr Airport
Lahr Airport is a small commercial airport located about 2 km west of Lahr/Schwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg, on the edge of the Black Forest and the Rhine Valley. It serves the Ortenau region and provides a convenient entry point for nearby destinations such as Offenburg, Strasbourg and Europa-Park Rust.
The site has a long aviation history and was used for decades as a military airfield, including as Canadian Forces Base Lahr until the base closed in 1994. It was subsequently developed into a civilian airport focused on cargo, general aviation and limited charter passenger flights.
Today the airport operates a single 3,000-metre runway and one compact passenger terminal. There are no scheduled passenger services; passenger activity is mainly charter and private flights, with occasional connections linked to Europa-Park.
The airport is close to the A5 motorway, making onward travel by taxi, rental car, private transfer or pre-arranged chauffeur straightforward. Public transport options are limited, so most travelers continue by road to Lahr, Offenburg, Strasbourg and the wider Black Forest region.
