Kittilä International Airport is the main airport for Kittilä and a key gateway to Finnish Lapland's Levi and Ylläs ski and holiday resorts. Regular flights from Helsinki have operated since 1987, and today the airport also receives seasonal international and charter traffic, particularly during the winter season.
Located about 5 km from the centre of Kittilä, the airport is roughly 15 km from Levi and about 35 km from Ylläs, giving travelers short connections to the region's most popular resorts and outdoor destinations. It also serves surrounding Lapland areas including Olos, Kolari, Muonio and Sodankylä.
The airport has a single terminal with check-in, security, boarding and arrivals in one building. The terminal has been expanded several times, and the current building opened in 2008 after reconstruction, with further upgrades to check-in, security and baggage facilities completed in 2021.
