About Kaduna International Airport
Kaduna International Airport is the main airport serving Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State in northern Nigeria. The airport opened in 1982 and was renamed Hassan Usman Katsina International Airport in 2023, though it remains widely known by its original name.
Located about 22 km northwest of the city centre, the airport primarily handles domestic flights and limited international operations, mainly during the Hajj season. It operates from a single passenger terminal and has one runway, and it has also served as an alternative hub for Abuja during major runway maintenance.
The airport is reached by road, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars providing connections to Kaduna and surrounding areas. The journey to the city centre typically takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.
Passenger facilities are relatively compact, with a VIP lounge, retail and commercial services and basic waiting areas. The airport functions as an important regional gateway for northern Nigeria, offering a straightforward entry point for domestic and occasional international travel.
