About Victor Attah International Airport
Victor Attah International Airport is the main airport serving Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State in southern Nigeria, and nearby towns including the river port of Oron. Opened in September 2009 as Akwa Ibom International Airport, it was renamed in 2018 to honour former Governor Victor Attah. The airport has grown into a regional gateway for both domestic and international travel.
Located around 24 kilometres southeast of central Uyo, the airport connects the state with major Nigerian cities such as Lagos, Abuja, Calabar and Enugu, and supports charter and international services. It serves as a hub for the state-owned airline Ibom Air and handles a mix of business, leisure and oil-industry travel linked to the wider Akwa Ibom and South-South region.
The airport is reached by road from Uyo, with taxis, private transfers, rental cars and group vehicles providing onward connections to the city centre, Oron, Eket and other surrounding areas.
