About Zaria Airport
Zaria Airport is a public airfield serving Zaria, a historic city in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria. Located about 7 kilometres north of the city centre, the airport is closely associated with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, which has used the site for pilot and aviation training since the college was established in 1964.
The airport does not currently handle scheduled airline services. Instead, it supports flight training, private aviation and executive charter operations, making it an important centre for building Nigeria's civil aviation workforce rather than a conventional passenger gateway.
The airfield has a single asphalt runway aligned 05/23, and its facilities include training infrastructure such as classrooms, simulators, maintenance hangars and a control tower training unit. Customs and immigration handling for private flights is typically available by prior arrangement.
Road connections link the airport to central Zaria and the wider Kaduna State road network, allowing onward travel to destinations such as Kaduna city. For most travellers visiting Zaria, nearby Kaduna International Airport provides the main scheduled passenger connections.
