About Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is the main international airport serving Dhaka and the busiest air gateway in Bangladesh. It began operations in 1980 after civil aviation activities moved from Tejgaon to Kurmitola, and was renamed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in 2010.
Located in Kurmitola, about 17 km north of central Dhaka, the airport connects the capital with domestic destinations and international routes across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Its passenger facilities are organised around Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for international flights, a separate domestic terminal, and a third terminal under construction.
The airport is linked to the city by road, buses, taxis, private transfers and rental cars, with an airport railway station nearby and the Airport Road providing access to central Dhaka, Uttara and surrounding areas.
