Thakurgaon Airport (TKR) is a former public and military STOL airfield located near Shibganj in Thakurgaon district, northwestern Bangladesh. Established in 1940 on about 550 acres, it served the Thakurgaon area with short take-off and landing operations before scheduled services ended.
The airfield was heavily damaged by the Indian Air Force during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. It was renovated in 1977 and supported commercial flights for a short period, but declining passenger numbers and lack of interest led to its closure and abandonment around 1980.
The airport sits about 3.5 km southwest of Thakurgaon town and is reached by local roads. With no scheduled flights today, travelers in the region typically use nearby active airports such as Saidpur Airport (SPD), roughly 58 km away.
Despite its inactive status, the grass runway and simple airfield layout reflect its historical role as a regional airstrip. Road links connect the site to Thakurgaon town and surrounding areas of the district.
