About Osmani International Airport
Osmani International Airport is the main gateway serving Sylhet and northeastern Bangladesh. Located about 15 km northeast of the city centre, it connects the Sylhet Division with Dhaka and international destinations, particularly routes to the Middle East.
The airport was originally built in 1944–1945 and was known as Sylhet Civil Airport before being renamed in honour of General M A G Osmani. It became a full-fledged domestic airport in 1986, was designated an international airport in 2002, and welcomed its first foreign airline, Flydubai, in 2015.
A single passenger terminal handles domestic and international flights, supported by immigration, customs, security screening and a separate cargo terminal. Passenger facilities include free Wi-Fi, luggage trolleys, wheelchair assistance, first aid, a foreign currency exchange booth and car parking.
The airport is reached by road from Sylhet city using taxis, CNG auto-rickshaws, private transfers and rental cars. From here, travellers can continue to the city, tea gardens and attractions such as Jaflong, Ratargul and Sreemangal.
