Hanzhong Chenggu Airport (HZG)

Hanzhong Chenggu Airport is the main air gateway serving Hanzhong, a city in southern Shaanxi Province, and the surrounding Chenggu County. Established originally as a military airfield, it was converted for joint military and civil use and opened to commercial flights on 13 August 2014, replacing the older Hanzhong Xiguan Airport. The airport operates as a domestic regional airport with a single passenger terminal of about 5,500 square metres and a 2,500-metre runway, capable of handling aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Services focus on domestic routes, with regular connections to cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Urumqi, Kunming and other destinations across China. Located in Liulin Town, Chenggu County, roughly 17 to 18 kilometres east of central Hanzhong, the airport is reached by airport shuttle buses, city bus line 105, taxis and private road transfers. Travel to the city centre normally takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. With a compact terminal, passenger services and onward links to the city, the airport provides a practical regional gateway for travellers visiting Hanzhong, Chenggu County and nearby historical attractions such as the Tomb of Zhang Qian and the Shimen Plank Road scenic area.
