About Gulu Airport
Gulu Airport serves Gulu, the largest city in Uganda's Northern Region, and supports both civilian and military aviation. The airport is administered by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and is one of the country's upcountry airports, with permission to handle selected cross-border traffic to and from neighbouring countries.
Located about 3 to 4 kilometres northwest of the Gulu central business district, the airport provides a convenient local air gateway for travellers and goods moving between northern Uganda and other parts of the country. Its single asphalt runway is among the longest upcountry runways in Uganda, and the facility has been upgraded over time to improve regional connectivity.
The airport has a small passenger terminal with taxi services into town. Scheduled commercial services have been limited in recent years, but the airport has historically hosted domestic and regional flights, including services linking Gulu with Entebbe and Juba.
For onward travel, passengers can use taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services or rental cars to reach Gulu city centre and destinations across the Northern Region. Gulu is roughly 300 kilometres north of Entebbe International Airport by air, making the airfield an important transport link for the region.
