About Grand Cess Airport
Grand Cess Airport is a small airstrip serving Grand Cess, a remote coastal town in Grand Kru County in south-eastern Liberia. It provides an important air link for a region where road travel is often slow and becomes more difficult during the rainy season.
The airfield sits close to the town and has a single unpaved laterite runway with limited infrastructure. It is mainly used for domestic, charter, humanitarian and mission flights rather than scheduled commercial airline services.
Grand Cess is located roughly 370 km by road from the capital, Monrovia, and about 12 km from Barclayville, the county capital. Onward travel from the airstrip is typically arranged by road using local taxis, motorcycles or pre-arranged private transport.
Passengers should expect basic facilities and are advised to confirm flight and transport arrangements in advance. Despite its simplicity, the airstrip plays a practical role in connecting Grand Cess and nearby communities with the wider country.
