Francisco de Orellana Airport (OCC)

Francisco de Orellana Airport is the main airport serving Coca (Puerto Francisco de Orellana), the capital of Ecuador's Orellana province and a common starting point for travel into the Amazon rainforest. It provides a vital domestic air link between the Amazon region and the rest of Ecuador, mainly through regular flights to and from Quito.

The airport dates back to 1958-1959, when it was built by the Vicariate of Aguarico as a small grass airstrip. It was later extended and upgraded, and a major remodeling completed in 2018 delivered a new passenger terminal of about 4,780 square meters, a control tower, and an expanded apron with space for up to seven aircraft.

Located roughly 2 km north of central Coca, the airport is easily reached by taxi or local transport. The surrounding road network and the nearby river port help travelers continue to hotels, lodges and communities across the Orellana region.

With a compact terminal, basic passenger facilities and a single-runway layout, the airport functions as a practical domestic gateway for visitors and residents travelling between the Amazon and Ecuador's highland capital.
