About Mariscal Sucre International Airport
Mariscal Sucre International Airport is the main international airport serving Quito and the wider Pichincha region, and the busiest airport in Ecuador. Opened on 20 February 2013, it replaced Quito's former airport and consolidated the capital's domestic and international air services in a modern airport complex.
The airport is located in the parish of Tababela, about 25 kilometres by road east of Quito's historic centre, and is also known as Tababela Airport. Its single passenger terminal handles domestic and international flights in dedicated processing areas, with an expanded national departure area opened in 2015 and one of the longest runways in Latin America at 4,100 metres.
The airport is connected to Quito by road via the Ruta VIVA and nearby highways, with public buses, taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars available for the journey to the city centre and surrounding valleys.
Passenger facilities include restaurants, cafés, shops, duty-free outlets, VIP lounges, free Wi-Fi, charging points, ATMs and currency exchange, making the airport a practical gateway for visitors arriving in Ecuador's capital region.
