About Foya Airport
Foya Airport (IATA: FOY) is a small regional airport serving the town of Foya and the wider Lofa County area in northern Liberia. It functions mainly as a local airstrip for community, humanitarian and light aircraft movements rather than large commercial aviation.
Located a short distance from Foya town, the airport lies in a rural part of northwestern Liberia, not far from the borders with Sierra Leone and Guinea. It has a single unpaved runway and a basic terminal area, and road travel to the national capital Monrovia involves a long journey of roughly 450 km.
The airfield was constructed in 2013 and upgraded in 2016, giving the area a more dependable landing strip for aid flights and regional travel. Passenger services and facilities are limited, so most onward journeys continue by road.
For visitors and organizations working in Lofa County, the airport provides a modest but useful entry point, with onward travel normally arranged by road to Foya town and surrounding communities.
