Flensburg-Schäferhaus Airport is a general aviation airfield serving Flensburg and the northern Schleswig-Holstein region close to the Danish border. Its origins go back to 1911, and the airfield has since developed into a base for private, business, club, training and gliding activity.
Located a few kilometres west of Flensburg city centre, the airfield is categorised as a Verkehrslandeplatz and operates under visual flight rules. It has three runways, including an asphalt runway and two grass runways, and is used by aircraft, helicopters, motor gliders, gliders and ultralights.
The airport is connected to the surrounding road network via the A7/E45 motorway, which provides access to Denmark and Scandinavia as well as south towards Hamburg. On-site parking and general aviation facilities support visitors and aircraft operators.
Although it does not handle scheduled commercial airline traffic, the airfield remains a practical gateway for business aviation and private flying in the Flensburg region, with fuel, maintenance, hangar space and a passenger waiting area available.
