Cox's Bazar International Airport is the main airport serving Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh's leading beach resort destination on the Bay of Bengal coast in the country's southeast. It is one of the busiest domestic airports in Bangladesh and connects travellers with the city, its long sandy beach and the surrounding coastal region.
The airport began operating as a domestic facility in 1956 and was reopened at the end of 1971 after being damaged during the Liberation War. Its runway has been extended in stages, and an ongoing upgrade programme has delivered a new international-standard passenger terminal with modern check-in, immigration and departure facilities.
