About Comilla Airport
Comilla Airport is a small public-use airfield serving Cumilla, a city in eastern Bangladesh. The site was established in 1940 near the Neura-Dhulipara area as a military base during World War II and later supported both military and civilian flying.
The airport handled domestic and other flights until the mid-1970s, but it no longer operates scheduled commercial passenger services. Today it remains an active Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh facility, providing navigation support for international overflights on air route B-593 between Kolkata, Cumilla and Agartala.
Located about 5 km southeast of Cumilla town, the airport sits close to the Dhaka–Chittagong Highway, giving road access to Dhaka, Chattogram and other parts of the region. Travelers generally reach Cumilla by road from those larger cities.
The airfield has a single runway, a small terminal building, a control tower and navigation equipment, but passenger amenities are limited. Plans have been discussed to revive the airport for domestic flights and as a flying academy.
