About Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is one of the main gateways to Chengdu and the wider Sichuan region. Its predecessor was built in 1938 and entered civil aviation use in 1956, and the airport received its international status and current name in 1995. Terminal 1 opened in 2001, and Terminal 2 followed in 2012, creating the two-terminal complex in use today.
Located about 16 kilometers southwest of central Chengdu, the airport is a 4F-class aviation hub with two terminals, two parallel runways and a broad range of passenger services. Since international and regional flights moved to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport in 2023, Shuangliu has focused mainly on domestic operations, with Sichuan Airlines and China Southern Airlines using Terminal 1 and other carriers using Terminal 2.
The airport is connected to central Chengdu by metro Line 10, which serves both terminals, and metro Line 19 at Terminal 2, alongside shuttle buses, taxis and road links. A railway station at the airport also provides train connections to nearby cities such as Leshan, Emeishan and Mianyang.
With modern passenger facilities, dining, shopping, lounges and onward travel options, the airport remains an important domestic hub and a convenient entry point for visitors exploring Chengdu and Sichuan Province.

Terminals
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 reopened in February 2025 after renovation and serves Sichuan Airlines and China Southern Airlines domestic flights, while Terminal 2 handles domestic flights for other airlines; international and regional services now operate from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.
