The airfield is operated around the Fränkische Fliegerschule Feuerstein and local aviation clubs and functions as the state performance centre for air sports in Northern Bavaria. It is licensed for motor aircraft, motor gliders, gliders, ultralights, balloons and helicopters, and offers sightseeing flights over the Franconian Switzerland countryside.
