About Aktau International Airport
Aktau International Airport is the main airport serving Aktau and the Mangystau region in western Kazakhstan. It opened in 1983 as Shevchenko-Central and later became the international gateway for the Caspian port city, taking its current IATA code, SCO, from Aktau's former name, Shevchenko.
Located about 21 km northwest of central Aktau, the airport has one passenger terminal and a single runway. It handles domestic flights across Kazakhstan and international services, and serves as a focus city for SCAT Airlines.
