About Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is the main international airport serving Madrid and the surrounding region of central Spain. It is Spain's busiest airport and one of Europe's major air traffic hubs, connecting the capital with destinations across Europe, the Americas and beyond.

The airport opened in 1931 as the National Airport of Madrid and was renamed Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas in 2014. Its most significant modernization came with the opening of Terminal 4 and the T4S satellite building in 2006, which added a large, modern passenger complex to the existing terminals.

Located in the Barajas district, around 12 km northeast of central Madrid, the airport has five passenger terminals. T1, T2 and T3 form a connected complex, while T4 and T4S are linked by an automatic underground train.

The airport is connected to Madrid by Metro line 8, Cercanías rail services, airport buses, taxis, private transfers and major road links, making it relatively easy to reach the city centre and continue to other parts of Spain.
