Zhezkazgan Airport (DZN)

Zhezkazgan Airport serves the city of Zhezkazgan, a mining and industrial centre in central Kazakhstan, and connects the surrounding Ulytau region with key destinations across the country. The airport was granted international status in 2008 and mainly handles domestic passenger traffic.

The current airport was built in 1971–1973 with an asphalt-concrete runway, and a new passenger terminal opened in 1985 with capacity for around 200 passengers per hour. Earlier air operations near the city date back to the 1940s, and a further reconstruction of the terminal and runway was completed in 2004 with support from the Kazakhmys Corporation.

Located about 8 km southeast of central Zhezkazgan, the airport is most commonly reached by taxi and is served by scheduled flights to Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and other cities in Kazakhstan.

The compact single-terminal layout keeps passenger flows straightforward, with a café, a small shop, free Wi-Fi, a mother-and-child room and basic waiting facilities available for travellers.
