Yonaguni Airport is the westernmost airport in Japan and the only commercial airport serving Yonaguni Island, part of the Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture. Opened as a military airfield in 1943, it has operated as a civilian airport since 1957.
Located on the north-central coast near Sonai, the airport handles domestic flights to Naha and Ishigaki operated by Ryukyu Air Commuter. Its compact passenger terminal is served by a 2,000-metre runway that entered service in 2007.
