About Yaoundé Ville Airport
Yaoundé Ville Airport is the former international airport of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. The site opened in 1937 as the city's first airfield, and its passenger terminal was inaugurated in February 1968. It served as Yaoundé's main airport until Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport began operations in 1991.
The airport lies within the city, about 5 km south of central Yaoundé, and is close to government areas and central districts. Its position gives road access to the capital via the N3 corridor, with a short drive to the city centre.
Today the airfield operates mainly as Base Aérienne 101 for the Cameroon Air Force, alongside limited government and civil aircraft movements. Scheduled commercial passenger flights now use Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport.
For official, military and limited civil travel, Yaoundé Ville Airport remains a practical entry point into the capital, with direct road connections to central Yaoundé and the surrounding Centre Region.
