About Xiangxi Biancheng Airport
Xiangxi Biancheng Airport is the first civil aviation airport in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan. Opened in 2023, it is a 4C domestic regional airport focused on serving local residents and visitors to the surrounding tourism area. The airport is located in Laotianping, Huayuan County, about 30 km from Jishou city centre and roughly 10 km from Huayuan county town. Its single passenger terminal covers about 11,000 square metres over two floors, with nine check-in counters, eight self-service kiosks, four security channels and five aircraft stands. The 2,600-metre runway can accommodate aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321. DXJ connects western Hunan with domestic destinations including Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Kunming and Shenyang. Airport buses link the terminal with Jishou and Huayuan, while taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars provide onward travel options. As a gateway to the border region where Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou meet, the airport serves destinations such as Fenghuang Ancient Town and the nearby Shibadong Village, supporting tourism and easier travel across western Hunan.
