About Wuerhe Airport
Wuerhe Airport (WRH), also known as Wuerhe Baikouquan Airport, is a general aviation airport serving Wuerhe District in Karamay, Xinjiang. Opened in May 2022, it was the first A1-level general aviation airport to be approved and built in Xinjiang, with a focus on short-haul regional flights, flight training, aerial sightseeing and emergency response.
Located about 8 km south of Wuerhe District centre and roughly 83 km from Karamay Airport, the airport provides an air link to scenic destinations in northern Xinjiang. It connects travellers with the World Devil City scenic area and other local attractions such as Baiyang River Grand Canyon. Early operations included routes to Nalati and Kanas.
The airport has a single terminal complex, a 1,500-metre runway and parking stands for around 21 aircraft. Its compact layout is designed for general aviation rather than large commercial volumes, so passengers can expect simpler facilities and shorter walking distances.
Road access is available via the G217 national road, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and pre-arranged vehicles providing onward connections to Wuerhe town, Karamay and other regional destinations.
