About Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport
Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport serves Wanzhou District, a major urban centre in northeastern Chongqing along the Yangtze River. Opened in 2003, it replaced the civilian operations of the former Liangping Airport and became the district's main air link to domestic and international destinations.
The airport has expanded significantly in recent years. A new Terminal 2 opened in 2023 for domestic flights, adding more check-in counters, security channels, boarding gates and baggage carousels, while the original Terminal 1 is being converted for international services.
Located about 5 kilometres from central Wanzhou, the airport is connected to the city by airport bus routes, public buses, taxis and road links, making onward travel to the city centre and Wanzhou North Railway Station relatively convenient.
With modern passenger facilities, dining, shops, lounges and onward travel options, the airport functions as the key gateway for travellers visiting Wanzhou and the Three Gorges region of northeastern Chongqing.
