Vangaindrano Airport (VND)

Vangaindrano Airport serves the town of Vangaindrano and the wider Atsimo-Atsinanana region in southeastern Madagascar. Managed by ADEMA (Aéroports de Madagascar), it functions primarily as a small airfield for occasional private, charter and regional flights rather than scheduled commercial traffic.

Located roughly 2 km from Vangaindrano, the airport has a laterite runway of about 900 m and operates without air traffic control, relying on visual landing procedures. Activity is limited to around ten flights a year, mainly by MAF and Aéromarine, and the largest aircraft normally authorised is the Twin Otter.

The airport is open daily from early morning to early evening and provides basic aircraft parking and a windsock, but no refuelling, security screening or terminal services. Ground transport to town is typically arranged by road, while the national capital Antananarivo lies approximately 495 km to the north.

For travellers, Vangaindrano Airport offers a simple entry point to a remote part of southeastern Madagascar. Passengers should plan supplies and onward transport in advance, as passenger facilities and scheduled public transport connections are limited.
