About Antsirabato Airport
Antsirabato Airport (ANM) is the domestic airport serving Antalaha, the main town of Madagascar's Sava region on the northeast coast. The area is known as an important centre of vanilla production, and the airport acts as a practical gateway for travelers visiting the surrounding plantations, coastal areas and nearby towns.
The airport reopened to regular flights on 22 January 2026 after an 11-year closure that began in 2015. A first phase of modernization led by Aéroports de Madagascar (ADEMA) renovated the passenger terminal to about 875 m², with separate boarding and arrivals areas, improved passenger comfort and a VIP lounge. Regular domestic services now link Antalaha with destinations such as Toamasina and Antsiranana.
Located approximately 12 km from central Antalaha, the airport is reached by road, with taxis, private transfers and pre-arranged vehicles providing the onward connection. The single asphalt runway is about 1,200 m long, and further works are planned to widen and upgrade it.
For travelers, Antsirabato Airport offers a compact and functional experience. Check-in, security, baggage handling and passenger facilities are concentrated in one terminal, making arrivals and departures relatively straightforward despite the airport's small size.
