About Valença Airport
Valença Airport is a small regional airport serving the municipality of Valença in southern Bahia and the surrounding Costa do Dendê. It functions as a convenient air gateway for travellers heading to coastal destinations such as Morro de São Paulo, Gamboa, Barra Grande and Maraú, as well as for local and general aviation.
Opened in 1948 and reopened in 2000, the airport has a single asphalt runway of about 1,800 metres and a compact passenger terminal. It supports daytime and night operations and has hosted scheduled regional services, including ticket sales for Azul, alongside private and small commercial aircraft.
The airport is located around 15 km from the centre of Valença on the BA-887 highway, near the BA-885 junction and Guaibim beach. It is also about 8 km from the Bom Jardim pier, where boats depart for Morro de São Paulo and Gamboa, making the airport a practical entry point for the region's island and beach destinations.
Facilities are modest but functional, with a restaurant, restrooms with baby-changing areas and a ticketing counter. Road transfers, taxis and private vehicles connect the airport with Valença, nearby beaches and onward transport across the Costa do Dendê.
