About Una-Comandatuba Airport
Una-Comandatuba Airport is a small regional airport serving the municipality of Una and the resort area of Comandatuba Island on the southern coast of Bahia, Brazil. It was inaugurated in August 1999 by the Transamérica hotel group primarily to serve guests travelling to the Transamérica Resort on the nearby island.
The airport lies about 16 km from downtown Una and is separated from Comandatuba Island by a short water crossing. Guests of the resort typically continue their journey by boat shuttle, which takes around 10 minutes, while road transfers connect the airport with Una and other parts of the region.
Operated by Socicam since 2016, the airport has a 2,000-metre runway and a single passenger terminal with capacity for around 250 passengers. It was authorized to receive commercial flights in 2021, expanding its role beyond private and resort-related aviation.
With a compact terminal, basic passenger facilities and a focus on resort traffic, Una-Comandatuba Airport provides a convenient gateway for travellers visiting Comandatuba Island and the surrounding southern Bahia coast.
