About Turpan Jiaohe Airport
Turpan Jiaohe Airport is a domestic regional airport serving Turpan in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Located about 10 km northwest of the city centre in Gaochang District, it opened in 2010 and also functions as an important alternate airport for Urumqi Diwopu International Airport.
Named after the nearby Jiaohe Ruins, the airport supports flights to destinations across Xinjiang and major Chinese cities. Its 4E-class airfield features a 3,200-metre runway capable of handling large aircraft, and the terminal area includes the original T1 terminal and a newer T2 terminal built to increase capacity.
The airport sits close to Turpan North Railway Station and is linked by a covered air-rail corridor, allowing travellers to transfer between flights and high-speed rail. Taxis and public bus connections via Turpan North Railway Station provide onward access to Turpan city centre and nearby attractions such as Grape Valley, Flaming Mountains and the Karez irrigation system.
