About Tulcea Danube Delta Airport
Tulcea Danube Delta Airport is the main airport serving Tulcea and a key air gateway to the Danube Delta. The airport was established in 1952 and has operated from its current site south of the city since 1973.
Located about 16 km south of central Tulcea on the banks of the Danube, the airport connects the city and surrounding delta communities with domestic and international travel. A major modernisation completed in 2024 introduced a single international terminal built to Schengen and non-Schengen standards, with 5 check-in counters, 3 boarding gates and a capacity of around 400 passengers per hour.
The airport is reached by road via the DN22/E87 route, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars available for the roughly 20-minute journey into Tulcea. From the city, travellers can continue by boat to destinations throughout the Danube Delta.
With a compact, modernised passenger terminal and a location close to the delta, the airport supports scheduled and charter flights, tourism and business travel for the Dobrogea region.
