Suceava Ștefan cel Mare International Airport is the main air gateway to Suceava, the historical region of Bucovina and northeastern Romania. It serves domestic and international routes and provides convenient access for visitors travelling to the area's painted monasteries and surrounding towns.
The airport began commercial operations in 1962 and gained a concrete runway and lighting system in 1963. Located in Salcea, about 12 km east of central Suceava, it was expanded with the opening of Terminal 2 in 2023, increasing processing capacity to around 1.5 million passengers per year.
Its two terminals support domestic and Schengen flights as well as non-Schengen international services, with check-in, security, arrivals and basic passenger facilities distributed across the terminal complex.
The airport is connected to Suceava by the DN29/E58 road, bus route 30, taxis, private transfers and car rental services, making onward travel to the city centre, Botoșani and the wider Bucovina region straightforward.
