About Arad International Airport
Arad International Airport is the main air gateway for Arad and western Romania, positioned about 4 km from the city centre and close to the Hungarian border. It serves Arad County and the surrounding region with domestic and international passenger and cargo connections, and lies near the A1 motorway junction on Pan-European Corridor IV.
The current departures terminal, T2, opened in April 2016 and is designed to handle around 500 passengers per hour, with six check-in desks, six boarding gates and modern waiting areas. A separate terminal area handles arrivals, keeping passenger flows straightforward in a compact airport.
The airport's location makes onward travel convenient: it is less than 100 m from the road junction connecting to the A1 motorway and around 250 km from Budapest and 300 km from Belgrade. Travellers can continue to central Arad by taxi, private transfer, car rental or local bus.
