One of the oldest airports in Suriname, the airstrip has been in use since September 1953, when a Piper Cub named Colibri landed from Zorg en Hoop Airport. The grass runway is marked at 500 metres and extends to about 700 metres including overruns.
Located at the edge of Totness, the airfield is only a short drive from the town centre. Road connections link Totness with Paramaribo to the east and Nieuw Nickerie to the west, making the airstrip a convenient stop for domestic travel in the coastal region.
